The leafy London suburb of Purley provided the lovely setting for Saffron and Jamie’s Surrey wedding photography two weekends ago. After performing the official bits at Croydon Town Hall on Friday, they opted for a private ceremony to mark the occasion in her mother’s back garden. The clouds threatened their usual spells of lousiness, but the day proved to be fantastic in every respect.

A lovely assortment of flowers inspired by English country gardens, a small gathering of close family and friends, gorgeous food at Chez Bruce on Wandsworth Common, and a shining white taxi cab to escort the couple from place to place. Plus a warm and sunny day! Perfect.
Congratulations, Jo and Simon!

One day we’re sweating through a wedding reception, the next we’re shivering. One day I’m struggling to control the contrast for outdoor group photographs in harsh sunlight (again I am NOT complaining, keep the sunshine coming…), and the next day I am scrambling to figure out a covered option for group photographs at a venue with more intimate interior space. Such a life! I love it, though. Fortunately the rain cleared for Aga and Stuart long enough to get a nice range of outdoor portraits before their wedding breakfast. Which was also fabulous, by the way!
Congratulations!

Intense sunshine lit up the inside of the chapel nicely but made for a rather warm outdoor reception afterward in the garden. Wait, who’s complaining about summer in London? Come back, please!
Congratulations, Naomi and Jason.

Their timings also allowed plenty of room for group photographs and a relaxed session of couples portraits before dinner. An extra thirty minutes can make such a difference!
Finally, the staff at Gosfield Hall were so well organised and easy going. It’s a beautiful setting regardless, but the people involved make it a truly fantastic wedding venue.
Congratulations Jane and Jim!

Finally, you might recall that Ali and Kevin won their wedding photography coverage in a promotion I ran back in August. Stay tuned for another great promotion, and congratulations to the happy couple!

True to form, the London weather managed to bring traffic to an aggravating crawl for the trip from the Chiswick Moran Hotel to Richmond Park, delaying the bride’s arrival by several minutes. James kept the guests entertained while they waited, and the rain cleared in time for the ceremony and remained at bay for the formal photographs afterward. The skylights and large windows in the Belvedere Room provided ample amounts of lovely daylight, permitting me to shoot the entire wedding without a single pop of flash. That’s on a grey day in January!
Congratulations to the happy couple, who are off on a well-deserved honeymoon to warmer, sunnier lands.
Congratulations to Ronnie and Matthew Reed, from southwest London. They married this past Saturday in a lovely ceremony at The Alma Tavern just across from Wandsworth Town station. I always enjoy ceremonies which allow for unusual wedding photography, and Ronnie’s red dress paired against Matthew’s blue velvet suit certainly fit the bill!
A big thank you to the lovely couple for sharing their day, and of course to the wonderful staff at The Alma.
After a grey and soggy week (see Johanna and Stuart’s wedding the preceding Sunday), the weather cooperated beautifully for Melissa and Allan, who married on Saturday in Eastbourne. A gorgeous church, lovely walk, and photographs in Manor Gardens, followed by a lively evening reception at the Lamb Inn, Eastbourne’s oldest pub. Congratulations and best wishes!
